Why…That is the question

I get asked all the time, “Why are you blogging?”, or “How is your blog going?” or “What are you up to now?”

I often don’t know how to answer this question. The answer is kind of deep and long, and I don’t want to bore people away. I often talk to much, taking too much space in the conversation, I don’t really listen well. I am going to attempt to answer this question.

For the past 6 years I have been extremely involved in the the local PTA, 2014-2015 I spent as PTA President. I loved IT! So What did I love about the PTA?

I love the social life and the opportunity to create with a purpose in mind. I am a stay at home mom, and love it, but I am also very social and I need to get out more. I need to get out there and do something with others. I would say that 75% of my current friends are from serving in the PTA. These women I have met are fabulous, from all walks of life, all socioeconomic backgrounds, and several cultures. They are all moms doing their best to be involved and use their talents to positively effect their child’s life. I could go on and on about the PTA, but I will stop for now.

Last year I spent as their PTA President. A full time – unpaid job, which I loved and put my whole heart and soul into. Now that the job is done, there is a bit of a let down, social, time and creative let down. I am choosing to take a step down from being so involved in the PTA, so others can have their time to shine and grow. There is a time and place for everything, and now is their time, not mine.

So how does this relate to my decision to begin blogging? I need an outlet to be creative, something to share and call my own all the same time. And lets be honest, since I have spent 6 years in free labor, I would like to start getting paid to be creative and share. I hope one day that part will happen. As for now, I still have a little 3 year old at home, who has 2-3 years (I might hold her back a year) left until she moves onto Elementary school, so I want to spend my time as a mom, but I need to do something that will give me another purpose, something that wont take mom time away. Over the summer my 4 kids and I spent time creating stuff to add to the potential blog. I felt like I was finally, and again, that stellar mom I was, before the PTA; where I used mom time to do craft projects, plan and do fun activities with them, and teach them skills.

This is why I am blogging. And it is going well – I hope better soon. And I feel I am spending my time wisely and enjoying he process.

About Kellie & Alicia

I am Kellie. I am a mom of 4 daughters, a creative dance teacher and a pinner. I love to create my Pins and figure out how to make things work. This blog is all about testing out Pins and sharing what I learned in the processes. I am excited about this adventure and I hope you enjoy seeing the interesting stuff that is created. In my spare time I love water skiing, hiking, camping (“glamping” is better), traveling and taking my kids on new adventures. I also love serving in my community and do so with my church, the PTA, and with an organization called Utah Kids Foundation. I love finding new ways to do things and trying them out.
